Cuba and United States have the same manifest destiny pre US War of Independence. Havana was vastly more established as financial center of trade and commerce in the New World. Have you ever asked yourself why the US Currency is called the dollar? Who financed Robert Morris purchases of gunpowder throughout the war? What navy sealed off the entrance to Mississippi River in the Battle of Baton Rouge and Pensacola in 1780 denying the British Navy access to back end George Washington’s armies in 178I? Who paid the colonial soldiers for the final decisive battle at Yorktown? Who was sitting next to Washington on the First 4th of July parade in DC? His name is Bernardo Galvez governor of Cuba his statue stand 25 ft tall at the north entrance of the US Department of State in DC. He emptied the Cuban Treasury with 500,000 llbs.of gold spanish silver.
American people have never asked why the US currency is called The Dollar? Dolár refers to the ” 8 reales” of silver coin minted in Perú and Mexíco for the King of Spain. It was the preferred currency for soldiers pay during the war of Independence. In fact the Specie currency circulated within the 13 colonies was worthless and heavily counterfeited by the British to discourage men to join the Continental Army. The pre eminent financier Robert Morris of Philadelphia arrange for financing as Result of Saavedra-Galvez Convention. It turn out to be a gift not a loan and loaded onto 38 French ships headed into the Battle of Chesapeake in August 1781.
Without Havana Cuba financial might and Admiral Bernaldo Galvez’s victories in Pensacola and Baton Rouge controlling the entry into the Mississippi River, there would not be A United States. The base at Guantanamo Bay was a promise to Republic of Cuba and the impetus for the development of and modern Navy as the first foreign Base of the United States to maintain its manifest destiny.
Along came The Martyr of Camelot in 1960 and Cuaba was put up for adoption to Nikita Khrushchev of the Soviet Union at a meeting in Vienna 1961. It there that The United States lost it way fighting in China interests in Vietnam ignoring Russia’s interest in Cuba. Now Canton Cuba is fast approaching while coming to theater near you. This a Classic liberal bipolar foreign Policy destined into believing our enemies in the world will just disappear with bleach. -MacontheRock
